As it happens with many people, the name of this man, Ferdinand Joseph LaMothe, seen at the time as arrogant and who early self-titled as "Jelly Roll" Morton and later as "Mr. Jelly Lord", the "inventor of jazz", would have lagged behind in the middle of one or another list as some other names of musicians of some relevance, but without due importance, if it were not for the interest of another man (Alan Lomax) for his music and history which made the register in 1938 for posterity of the life and work of the artist told by himself...
Today his legacy is so valued that it is generally seen as one of the most important names in the history of music...
